Get ready for a new perspective within The Walking Dead universe as AMC is prepping to begin production on a third television show showcasing the undead and the humans who will either be good or be bad.
Greenlit earlier this year, the new show will feature a cast of young individuals whose story differs from the characters in The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. Per a press release from AMC, it “…will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever, grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”
Executive producer, Scott M. Gimple, shared at this year’s SDCC that “…These kids can grow up in a place of comfort and security, but they leave everything on a dangerous quest, and are being pursued by adults on their own.”
Comicbook.com recently detailed that the pilot episode, to be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island), will concern a huge plane crash, and will be filmed in Hopewell, Virginia. Key players in the series were also revealed during SDCC: Aliyah Royale (The Red Line) will portray Iris, Annet Mahendru (The Americans) will portray Huck, Alexa Mansour (Unfriended: Dark Web) will portray Hope, Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball) will portray Elton, and Hal Cumpston will portray Silas.
AMC has released a promotional teaser that showcases each character explaining the world that we will enter once the show premieres along with some gorgeous storyboard art. The teaser also shares that the new show will premiere in the Spring of 2020.
