Paramount studio head, Jim Gianopulos, confirmed rumors that a sequel to the sleeper hit of the year, A Quiet Place, is underway. Attendees at Las Vegas’ CinemaCon got the scoop and thanks to the ol’ interwebs we get to share in the scoopy goodness.
In case you’ve missed out on the unexpected wonder that is A Quiet Place, let me fill you in. Well, first, go read the wonderful review of it on this site.
Done? Ok, good. A Quiet Place cost just $17million to make, but has snatched up more than $200million so far at the box office. Jon Krasinski wrote, directed, produced and casted the movie. You can tell it was purely a passion project. The earnest and genuine performance of every single actor shows just how much heart was put into it.

At this weekend’s past CinemaCon, Gianopulos announced to a packed crowd,
“We’re thrilled to say that we’re already working on the sequel to ‘A Quiet Place,’
A Quiet Place tells of a family struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic near future. Creatures have landed on Earth and they don’t come bearing gifts. Humanity discovered the creatures can’t see or smell, but have an acute sense of hearing. So, we’ve adapted and survive by being, well, quiet. It is a horror movie that is all but entirely silent and subtitled.
You can’t see the sequel just yet, but there is still time to catch the original in the theaters. I highly recommend it. Every once in a while a movie comes along that is a true ‘experience’ to see in the theater. I saw A Quiet Place in a random theater in Indiana during a snowstorm and it couldn’t be more perfect. That silent theater was downright oppressive. It was wonderful.
If you haven’t seen A Quiet Place, see it! If you have, then stay on the lookout for what looks to be a great continuation of the story.
