Oh come, all ye followers of “The Chin”, and rejoice! For we now have the ability to stream the show horror fans have been wanting for the last 25 years. As an early holiday present for Fiends across the country, Netflix has started streaming both seasons of Ash vs Evil Dead.
In 1992, Bruce Campbell blew our minds as Ash Williams in Army of Darkness. Since then, fans have been begging just about anyone who would listen for a fourth installment of the Evil Dead franchise. Instead of just a two-hour sequel, however, we were given something beyond our wildest dreams; an ongoing series that follows Ash as he fights off a plague of Deadites. The third season will air in late February on Starz, so now is the perfect time to get caught up, or to get hooked on this incredible show.
The future of Ash vs Evil Dead is in limbo as the show enters its third season. Fans have begun a petition asking for a fourth season renewal, but apparently no decision has been made as of yet. The harsh truth is, like other horror television shows The Exorcist and Hannibal before, Ash vs Evil Dead suffers from a severe case of “Not being watched-itis”. People love the show, but they are not tuning in enough, or through the proper (read: legal) sources to effect the ratings numbers in a positive way. Although streaming numbers don’t account for a lot in a network’s decision making process, a good showing on Netflix may be just enough to push the executives at Starz over the edge and make a fourth season a reality.
So do your part, Fiends! Sign in to your (or your Ex’s Uncle’s Cousin’s Neighbor’s) Netflix account and check out Ash vs Evil Dead. Get those viewership numbers up so that we will get a fourth season of this show and we will continue to get television networks to invest in killer horror series. In the meantime, keep your eyes on Nightmare on Film Street and check out the trailer for season three below.
