Drew Goddard’s upcoming crime-thriller Bad Times At The El Royale has finally been given an official trailer. Perhaps not as horror-centric as his celebrated debut Cabin In The Woods, the trailer for Bad Times At The El Royale promises mystery, deception, and murder. The film follows several strangers that have converged on the El Royale Hotel a la Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Of course the strangers each hold a secret as dark as the hotel itself, and they’ll have to keep their wits about them if they want to remain hidden and survive the night.
Bad Times At The El Royale is written and directed by Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods) and hits theatres October 5th, 2018. With a fully stacked all-star cast, Bad Time At The El Royale stars Chris Hemsworth (A Perfect Getaway), Dakota Johnson (Suspiria), Jon Hamm (Baby Driver), Nick Offerman (The Founder), Jeff Bridges (Hell or High Water), Cynthia Erivo (Step), Lewis Pullman (The Strangers: Prey At Night), and Cailee Spaeny (Pacific Rim: Uprising).
Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption – before everything goes to hell.
Goddard is best known for meta-horror favourite Cabin In The Woods, analyzing and breaking down horror tropes and film logic. As a screenwriter Goddard helped build the foundation for the Cloverfield universe, penning the script for J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves’ initial initial film. Goddard also served as executive producer for 10 Cloverfield Lane, Cloverfield Paradox, Marvel’s Daredevil series for Netflix, and Ridley Scott’s The Martian, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
