Indie revenge film Leave Not One Alive is busy collecting some serious talent. Actress/singer Bella Thorne (Midnight Sun) has been cast as a leading actress.
Deadline reports Bella Thorne will star as a drug dealer with a dead client on her hands. She’s no stranger to horror films; her 2017 work included roles in Amityville: The Awakening as well as the Netflix slasher The Babysitter. She will also share the spotlight with Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Equalizer 2). Also cast in the film are Jake Weary (It Follows), and Michael Potts (Madam Secretary, The Wire). Leo, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 2012’s The Fighter, plays the mother of Thorne’s dead client.
The casting comes at a time when Bella Thorne is branching out her creative career. She is also returning to singing. Her debut album, What Do You See Now? comes out later this year.
Leave Not One Alive is being helmed by Jordan Galland. Galland’s previous work includes 2015’s horror-comedy Ava’s Possessions, 2012’s Alter Egos, and the cult comedy Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Undead.
The film, currently shooting in New York City, is a thriller about the obsessive power of a mother’s love. The plot
“follows a theater actress, Lillian Cooper (Leo) whose son (Weary) dies mysteriously. When the investigating officer (Potts) rules the cause of death an accidental overdose, Lillian conducts her own investigation which leads her to an unlikely alliance with her son’s former drug dealer (Thorne). On her quest for answers, Lillian hallucinates some of the iconic characters she’s played on stage which serve as her inner voice, urging her to avenge her son’s death.”
Leave Not One Alive‘s production is by Jen Gatien, Peter Wong, and Timur Bekbosunov. Executive producing the film is Johnny Chang and Emma Lee, of Ace Pictures Entertainment.
