IT: Chapter 2 begins filming soon and star Bill Skarsgard has commented on returning to the character of Pennywise and how the sequel differs from the first installment.
Den of Geek recently spoke to Skarsgard in the run up to IT: Chapter 2 going before the lens. Skarsgard was candid on his views of reprising the role of Pennywise and the interesting new dynamics required of the role, saying:
I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a very different experience this time around, just given the fact that you have all of these incredible, seasoned actors to play against, as opposed to having all the kids. So it’s going to be a different experience for sure. But I’m looking forward to it.
Joining the Losers’ Club
To illustrate this new dynamic Skarsgard speaks of, let’s look at the new adult cast of IT: Chapter 2. The recast adult Losers Club is shaping up well. Jessica Chastain will star as Beverly Marsh, James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak, Andy Bean as Stan Uris and Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom. The role of Mike Hanlon has yet to be cast.
The events of the original 2017 film continue some 30 years later. The Losers Club return to Derry, Maine to once again confront Pennywise who is due to rise from its hibernation. They must destroy IT once and for all before it’s too late. IT: Chapter 2 will be the concluding chapter of the two-movie saga based on Stephen King’s classic 1986 novel of the same name. IT: Chapter 2 is set to arrive in cinemas on September 6th, 2019.
