After a killer opening weekend Andy Muschietti’s It: Chapter 2 has fans ready to dive into the horror filled season of fall with full force. Summer blockbusters may be great, but let’s face it, it’s almost our favorite time of year around here (i.e. Halloween) and ghoul is the new cool. That being said, It: Chapter 2 is definitely the way to kick off the horror film binge we are all now entering for the next two months. While the film is terrifying and the cast is spectacular, the film most certainly has a lot to owe Bill Skarsgård who has brought such an iconic version of Pennywise to the screen.
Skarsgård brings something completely new to the adaptation and makes the role truly his own. There is a physicality that only he can bring to the role in the way he holds his face or uses his lazy eye to his benefit. Skarsgard pours all of his energy into the role and you can see it. Recently Skarsgård sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about talking on the role of Pennywise. When asked if he would ever consider reprising his role, he stated:
There is this interesting aspect of going back in time before all this happened. There might be a story there that might be worth exploring. Obviously that would be a story that’s not in the book, it would be a freestanding story, but obviously within the same universe. So, there might be something interesting out of it. I think it would be fun.
Fingers crossed. I would love to see more of Pennywise terrorizing Derry. Maybe horror period piece? The idea of It: Prologue sounds intriguing to me, but what do you guys think?
