A grisly new Blood Fest trailer splattered across the internet on Tuesday. It’s chock full of crotch grabbing zombies, killer clowns, chainsaw wielding maniacs, and…BLOOD. Following in the meta-horror footsteps of such films as Popcorn (1991), Scream (1996), and Cabin in the Woods (2011), Rooster Teeth’s Blood Fest plays to horror fan fantasies and attempts to answer the question; what would YOU, a horror fan, do if you were in a horror movie?

The Official Synopsis (with quote from a certain noteworthy critic):

Hailed by critics and fans as “an already wild party where someone has spiked the punch” (Kimberley Elizabeth, Nightmare on Film Street), Blood Fest follows fans who flock to a festival celebrating the most iconic horror movies, only to discover that the charismatic showman (Egerton) behind the event has a diabolical agenda. As festival attendees start dying off, three teenagers (Kay, Gabriel, Batalon) more schooled in horror-film clichés than practical knowledge about neutralizing psycho killers must band together and battle through various madmen and monstrosities to survive.

With the arrival of Blood Fest‘s new trailer came the film’s long-awaited release dates. That’s right, the meta horror movie that has been tickling festival audience funny bones and gag reflexes will soon find its way to a screen near you! With an upcoming one-night-only Fathom event hitting screens across the U.S. on August 14th (tickets available June 29th), a limited U.K. theatrical release on August 17th, and a wide release on digital, cable and satellite platforms on August 31st, horror fans can hopefully snag a screening of this laugh-a-minute splatter feature. If the movie still manages to sneak by you, don’t fret, it will be released on Blu-ray+DVD combo pack from Cinedigm on October 2nd.

Written and directed by Owen Egerton, Blood Fest stars Robbie Kay (TV’s Once Upon A Time), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender). Be sure to check out Nightmare on Film Street’s review of Blood Fest at this years Overlook Film Festival, and stay tuned for further bloody updates.
