It’s that time of year fellow fiends! Halloween is finally upon us, and with Halloween comes the announcement of the Eleventh Annual BloodList and the Fourth Annual Fresh Blood Selects.
For those who might not be familiar with the annual BloodList, here is a brief history located on Bloodlist.com. “The BloodList was created in 2009 to bring attention to unproduced dark genre screenplays & pilots in circulation. A calendar year for a script to be considered runs from October 31st to the following October 31st, with the list being announced annually around Halloween. Only working executives can vote on the list. BloodList has become a resource for dark genre producers searching for the perfect material, and some snatch their next project here first. In addition to the annual list, BloodList is expanding into a producing and financing entity.”
The BloodList over the years has produced some exceptional projects including Voices (2014) starring Ryan Reynolds, Maggie (2015) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bird Box (2017) starring Sandra Bullock, and this years Netflix horror original Eli.
The annual BloodList announcement is always exciting on its own, but this year’s announcement is especially exciting for all of us here at Nightmare on Film Street because making the Fresh Blood Selects List is NOFS co-host and co-creator Kimberley Elizabeth! Kimberley’s script, Second Act Library, is a meta-horror dark comedy that brings together heroes from individual horror stories into one spooky setting. As the script’s logline puts it:
Six different horror movies. Six unique survivors. All looking for answers… at the same time.
Second Act Library was one of the ten scripts chosen out of the five-hundred and thirteen submitted projects submitted for the Fourth Annual Fresh Blood Selects category! This is an incredible accomplishment, and all of us here at Nightmare on Film are proud of and excited for Kimberley and this amazing opportunity!
