Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up – Ash Williams, the iconic badass played by Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead franchise, is headed to the video game Dead by Daylight. The announcement was made at the PAX East video game show, and the character will be available to download on April 2nd. Even better, Ash will be voiced by Bruce Campbell in the game. Check out the announcement trailer here:
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric video game for five players. Four players control survivors, who have to sneak around a map, securing objectives so that they can escape from the fifth player. That player takes control of a brutal killer, who stalks through the map, attacking players and trying to murder them all before they are able to meet their objectives and escape.
There are a variety of survivors and killers to play as in Dead by Daylight, including several from well-known horror franchises like Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That means Ash can now join forces with the likes of Laurie Strode to take on Freddy Kruger. There are plenty of original characters on both the survivor side and the killer side as well.
The Ash Williams that will be included in Dead by Daylight looks to be based on the character from the Ash vs Evil Dead show. Expect him to be a little older and (pretending to be) a little wiser than he was back in the film trilogy.
Most of the Dead by Daylight downloadable content has started at $6.99 and dropped to $4.99 a few months after its initial release, so it seems likely that the Ash vs Evil Dead DLC will follow suit. It will be available for download on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One starting on April 2nd.
