Nipping at the heels of 2018’s Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich comes another killer Fangoria and Full Moon Features collab.  This time, the deadly duo will be remaking the 1995 Stuart Gordon cult classic, Castle Freak. The original direct-to-video release loosely based on the H.P. Lovecraft tale, The Outsider instantly scored horror fan street cred due to its cast that once again reunited Barbara Crampton and Jeff Combs. Since then, the film has only grown in cult notoriety and was ripe for the remake picking.

Here’s a plot synopsis:

The story follows recently-blinded Rebecca, her boyfriend John, and their friends as they travel to Albania to manage Rebecca’s sudden inheritance of a castle from her long-lost-mother. Once there, they learn that Rebecca’s family harbored dark secrets with potentially cosmic implications. As mysterious happenings and horrific murders begin to occur, Rebecca must unravel her family’s own mysterious history before she too falls prey to… the CASTLE FREAK.

Returning to the story once again, Charles Band (who produced the original) and Crampton will be returning as producers with Fangoria’s Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk.  Kathy Charles (The Kings of Maine) penned the script and Special Effects wiz Tate Steinsiek (Satanic Panic, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich) will be manning the helm for his directorial debut.  Also returning to the Full Moon/Fangoria family is the maestro himself, Fabio Frizzi (The Beyond, Zombie). Frizzi recently wrote the super fun score for Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich and will also be writing a brand new score for Castle Freak. There’s a lot that bodes well for this remake.

Alongside this stacked lineup of horror royalty behind the scenes comes a veritable smorgasbord of up and coming talent on screen. Castle Freak will star Jake Horowitz (The Vast of Night), Kika Magalhaes (The Eyes of My Mother), Elisha Pratt (True Detective), Emily Sweet (Palace) and newcomers Chris Galust, Clair Catherine and Omar Brunson.  Filming begins shortly in Albania with release date and distribution details forthcoming.
