He’s terrorized a pre-Friends stardom Jennifer Aniston. He’s looked for love in L.A. and then murdered along the Vegas strip. He then went to space, and then went to the hood, and then went back to the hood, before the whole thing got rebooted Halloween-style (just not as successfully). If it’s St. Patrick’s Day, then horror fans know that it’s time for the Leprechaun franchise, and Syfy will make it easy to enjoy all the Irish-themed mayhem this Sunday!
If you feel like it, Syfy invites you to get up at 9 am EST this St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate Irish cultural heritage by watching the most stereotypical aspect of it. Here’s the rundown:
- 9 am – Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood
- 11 am – Leprechaun in the Hood
- 1 pm – Leprechaun 4: in Space
- 3 pm – Leprechaun 3
- 5 pm – Leprechaun 2
- 7 pm – Leprechaun
- 9 pm – Leprechaun Returns
- 11 pm – Leprechaun 3
- 1 am – Leprechaun 4: In Space
- 3 am – Leprechaun in the Hood
If you’re wondering about the order of the schedule, it’s the reverse sequence from the last to the first of the five original Leprechaun films starring Warwick Davis as the titular creature. It all leads up to the cable TV premiere of Leprechaun Returns, which was technically a direct sequel to the 1993 original and featured Mark Holton reprising his role as Ozzie Jones from the first Leprechaun. Leprechaun Returns was released on VOD last December, and you can read the NOFS review of the film here.
But you may have noticed one glaring omission: the 2014 reboot of the franchise called Leprechaun: Origins, which starred professional wrestler Hornswoggle (real name Dylan Postl) in the title part. The WWE co-produced the film with Lionsgate, and its the only Leprechaun film to have been released in theatres since the second one in 1994. Still, it didn’t make the cut for this Sunday’s marathon.
