CHILD’S PLAY Franchise May See Return of Glen/Glenda!

A month has passed since fans were given the latest installment in the Child’s Play series. Cult of Chucky was released physically and on-demand in early October. Following the events of Curse of Chucky, horror fiends everywhere were introduced to new additions of the mythos of the Child’s Play universe. One thing that was expected were the rumors of Chucky’s spawn, Glen/Glenda, would make an appearance.  While the twins did not make an appearance in the film, creator and director Don Mancini has hinted that we may have not seen the last of Glen/Glenda.

Cult of Chucky just about had everything from the entire continuity of the series, all except one (maybe two?) things. Flashback to 2004 with the release of Seed of Chucky, fans were introduced to the ugly spawn of Chucky Glen/Glenda for the first time. They played a major part of the film and have not been seen since.

Rumors were circulating for a while that one of Nica’s (Fiona Dourif) fellow patients, Michael (Adam Hurtig) was Glen grown up. The multiple personality stricken character had a lot of the tweaks and mannerisms that were closely related to Glen’s persona. Alas, this was a red herring thrown in by Mancini for the film. The question is now, where is Glen and Glenda now?

Well, in an interview with toy company Mezco, Mancini was asked if we would ever see Billy Boyd return to the role(s) of Glen and Glenda. Mancini’s response:

All I can say is… STAY TUNED!

It’s safe to say that there is more to come from this character. Cult of Chucky did not shy away from linking different elements of the mythos to the plot. Mancini was also asked about what can be expected from the future installments of the series:

Expect the unexpected. Though not as unexpected as, say, Chucky not being in the movie. I’d say you could expect that.

With that, there is definitely more on the horizon for our favorite killer doll. Cult of Chucky saw the titular character expand to new horizons and leave fans wanting more mayhem. Hopefully it won’t be long before we see what horror Chucky has to offer.
