2019, the year of the ade due damballa, real and.. synthetic (ahem, the remake). Why? Cause Chucky’s return is in high-drive possession mode. It was reported recently that SyFy would be the home of the Child’s Play TV series, and now, more info has been given via producer, Nick Antosca.

Speaking with /Film, Antosca revealed that the title of the series will be Chucky. All sense is made, there. Confusion will be avoided with the upcoming remake which will be going by the title of Child’s Play, and in the realm of pop culture, Chucky’s name is synonymous with the franchise. “You know what that is when you hear the word,” Antosca commented.

While earlier reports stated that the series would continue the storyline seen at the end of Cult of Chucky, Antosca revealed that isn’t quite the case. New characters will be introduced as victims for Chucky. But have no worries that we’re going the way of the Halloween franchise as far as continuity goes. Antosca stated that, “It’s consistent with that mythology, but it’s a whole new story so you could come into it without knowing anything about the previous stuff and get into it. But it is consistent with all the mythology that has come before, so it is in canon.

There was also mention that the tone of the series will harken back to the horror aspect seen in the first film and that was brought back in the latter two sequels. “The series is going to be closer to the tone of the first two movies in the series though,” Antosca assured. “It’s going to go back to a sort of classic scare.”

Spoiler territory coming up, so tread lightly. In Cult, Chucky discovered that he has the ability to possess multiple objects and people. My prediction is that he will lose that surplus of power, and be stricken to a “one soul” kind of deal thus leading to him terrorizing a new family with – more than likely – a new kid that he wants to possess. Or, yanno, multiple possession Chucky will go buck wild, and we won’t know who is possessed, and who is not possessed.

The biggest question, I’m sure, is who from the series will make appearances, and who won’t? On that, Antosca had this to say:

They might pop in eventually, but it’s new characters. I don’t want to say anything definitive. I want to leave that to Don, but let’s just say that there might be opportunities in the story for Jennifer or Fiona to make an appearance. Of course, the plan is for Brad to be the voice.”

With that, we’ll go ahead and assume that Brad Dourif is a 100% go. But what about Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Nica (Fiona Dourif), Andy (Alex Vincent), and even Kyle (Christine Elise)? Will Mancini save all of them for another movie sequel? Will anybody else from the films make an appearance?
