This weekend is the annual celebration of mothers worldwide, even the moms of horror. Whether it’s Pamela Voorhees, Rosemary Woodhouse, Norma Bates, or the Alien Queen, horror is filled with mothers who are voraciously defensive of their children no matter how bad they’ve been. So naturally, Mother’s Day is a really excellent occasion for some promotion for upcoming horror movies, specifically the upcoming Child’s Play remake at the animated Addams Family.
First, Chucky‘s got a nice bouquet of pretty flowers for mom. Maybe he really is a good guy doll. Of course, the movie is about how a single mother gives her son a doll with the soul of a serial killer inside it, which is pretty reckless and irresponsible even if she doesn’t know it at the time.
Child’s Play starring Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman and the voice of Mark Hamill as Chucky, will be in theatres everywhere on June 21.

Next, is The Addams Family, a loving family that is a little bit spooky and a little bit kooky. In a decidedly more wholesome angle as compared to Child’s Play, Wednesday and Pugsley give their mother some nice stems to celebrate the holiday.
The Addams Family, based on the classic comic strip by Charles Addams and the sitcom it spawned, will feature the voice talents of Charlize Theron as Morticia, Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Allison Janney, and Bette Midler as Grandmama. The animated film will hit theatres everywhere just in time for Halloween on October 11.
