The home release date for the social media horror flick Friend Request was recently announced, and now we have a peek at an exclusive clip from the Blu-ray special features. In the clip, director Simon Verhoeven discusses casting Alycia Debnam Carey in the starring role of Laura, and Carey gives some insight into the character and story. You can check out the clip, above, and read on for the official trailer and Blu-ray artwork.

Synopsis:

Laura is a popular college student who graciously accepts an online friend request from Marina, a young social outcast. To everyone’s shock, Marina takes her own life after Laura decides to unfriend her. Soon, a disturbing and mysterious video appears on Laura’s profile and her contacts slowly dwindle. When her friends suddenly begin to die one by one, the frightened young woman must figure out a way to stop the carnage before it’s too late.

Friend Request is co-written and directed by Simon Verhoeven and stars Alycia Debnam Carey (TV’s Fear the Walking Dead and Into the Storm), William Moseley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Connor Paola (Stake Land), Brit Morgan (TV’s Riverdale), and Liesl Ahlers (upcoming TV series Obsession). The film hit theaters this past September, and was a dud at the box office. The production budget was over $9 million, and the film has brought in less than $4 million to date. Maybe Friend Request can gain some new followers once it hits home viewing platforms.

Friend Request is available to purchase via digital outlets now. Look for Friend Request on DVD, Blu-ray, and On Demand beginning January 9th. Read on for the trailer and Blu-ray artwork. You can learn more about the film by visiting the official interactive website here.
