Corin Hardy, director of The Nun (the upcoming addition to The Conjuring universe), has been attached to the remake of the cult classic, The Crow (1994), since 2014.
Over the years, the remake has experienced multiple stalls, including actors dropping out (Bradley Cooper, for instance) and film companies going bankrupt, but recent Instagram posts by Hardy are teasing the possibility of production beginning, very soon.
The photos also appear to confirm that Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian, Aquaman) has been cast as The Crow himself, Eric Draven.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has finally found a home at Sony Pictures. Fans of the original film have been vocal about their trepidation of the film being adapted, again. Some believe a remake would be disrespectful to the memory of Brandon Lee, who tragically lost his life while performing a stunt for the original film.
The Crow is based on the beloved comic book by James O’Barr that was released in 1989. It tells the story of Eric Draven and his fiancée who are murdered. On the anniversary of his death, Eric returns as The Crow to avenge their deaths. The remake, currently titled, The Crow Reborn, is said to be a more faithful adaptation of the comic book.
According to IMDB, singer-songwriter Nick Cave is attached to write the screenplay.
