“They came for his family, now he’s coming for them.” Death Wish, The latest film from horror alumni Eli Roth, comes ready to rumble. The action/thriller meets crime drama stars Bruce Willis, Vincent D’Onofrio and Elisabeth Shue. And, judging by the trailer (above) it looks like Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel, The Green Inferno) ramps up the violence in the upcoming remake. Since the police aren’t able to bring the criminals to justice, someone has to do it.

The official synopsis sums up what we can expect:
Dr. Paul Kersey is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of his city’s violence as it’s rushed into his ER – until his wife and daughter are viciously attacked in their suburban home. With the police overloaded, Paul burning for revenge hunts for his family’s assailants to deliver justice.
Death Wish is based on the novel of the same name by Brian Garfield. First published in 1972, it only took two years for a film adaptation. The original film starred Charles Bronson. Death Wish (1974) is widely regarded as changing the outlook of the crime genre, sparking more violent predecessors. And with Eli Roth at the helm of the remake, we can only expect the violent nature of the film to increase tenfold. It is interesting that violence in media remains such a relevant issue, even after the forty-plus years since the source material was first published.
Death Wish stars Bruce Willis (The Sixth Sense), Vincent D’Onofrio (Rings) and Elisabeth Shue (Hollow Man). This film is also featuring Dean Norris, Kimberly Elise, Mike Epps and Camila Morrone. Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces) served as writer and of course, Eli Roth directs. The film is edited by Mark Goldblatt with Rogier Stoffers (Distrubia) handling cinematography.
