Primarily known for his comedic work and collaborations with Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright has amassed quite a dedicated fanbase as a writer/director. Directing the films Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Baby Driver, as well as co-writing Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Marvel’s Ant-Man, Wright has dabbled in quite a few genres of film. In his upcoming feature, titled Last Night in Soho, Wright will be encroaching into the psychological/horror genre which he will be directing as well as co-writing.
Although not much is known regarding the film’s plot, a release date has been confirmed for Friday, September 25th, 2020. Last Night in Soho is produced and will be distributed by Focus Features in North America, which recently distributed this summer’s horror zombie comedy, The Dead Don’t Die, starring Bill Murray and Adam Driver. According to the Focus Features official website, the details regarding Last Night in Soho are as follows, “The Edgar Wright directed, London-set psychological thriller stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, Matt Smith, Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, Diana Rigg, Terence Stamp, and Rita Tushingham. Edgar Wright and Penny Dreadful scribe Krysty Wilson-Cairns co-wrote the screenplay”. Wright has hinted previously that his latest film will be heavily influenced by classic psychological thrillers, Nicolas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion.
