The Meg is not the only shark movie coming out this summer. The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time is set to premiere on the Syfy channel this August, and we have the official poster. In addition to dinosaurs, the advertisement carries the witty meta tagline of “history’s biggest disaster comes to an end”. Read on for a look at the official artwork via TVLine as well as four additional character posters. In the film, Fin (Ian Ziering) travels back in time to stop the original sharknado that started it all.

Heavily touted as the grand finale to the franchise, The Last Sharknado is the sixth entry of the hit Syfy series that seems to get more ridiculous with each passing year. The original Sharknado premiered on Syfy in the summer of 2013 to horrible reviews and quickly gained a strong following of fans that celebrated the bad effects, terrible acting, and silly story line. With the unexpected success, a new Sharknado film has premiered on the Syfy channel each summer for the past six years.

The Last Sharknado stars franchise regulars Ian Ziering (TV’s Beverly Hills 90210), Tara Reid (American Pie), and Vivica A. Fox (Idle Hands). Anthony C. Ferrante returns to the director’s chair one final time. Ferrante has directed all six installments of Sharknado. The film was written by Scotty Mullen, who also wrote the screenplay for Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (2017). The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time is scheduled to premier on the Syfy channel August 19.

Admittedly, I’ve only seen the first Sharknado and fully plan on catching up prior to the premiere of It’s About Time – premiering on Syfy Sunday, August 19th at 8/7c. Have you seen all of them? If so, what did you think? Let us know in the comments below or on TwitterInstagramReddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
