When you hear the phrase “come to Daddy” as an adult, you might not know how to react. You would think this expression is limited to childhood days of learning to walk. Yet now we hear it’s also the name of a new black comedy thriller starring Elijah Wood. Sounds like things are about to get awkward.

As everyone is preparing for the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas this week, the Tribeca Film Festival is giving the world a peek at their schedule. This includes the world premiere of first-time director Ant Timpson’s Come to Daddy. In the press release, the plot of the film was revealed, too:

“After receiving a cryptic letter from his estranged father, Norval travels to his dad’s oceanfront home for what he hopes will be a positive experience. If only he’d known the dark truth about his old man beforehand.”

Tribeca also shared some of the first images from Come to Daddy. Check them out below!

The film’s cast includes Elijah Wood (The Faculty), Stephen McHattie (Ponytpool), Martin Donovan (Silent Hill: Revelation), Michael Smiley (The Nun), Madeleine Sami (What We Do in the Shadows), Simon Chin (Killing Eve), and Ona Grauer (House of the Dead).

Come to Daddy is an Irish-Canadian-New Zealand co-production produced by Daniel Beckerman (The VVitch), Emma Slade (The Changeover), Katie Holly (The Citadel), Mette-Marie Kongsved (The ABCs of Death 2), and Laura Tunstall. Writer Toby Harvard (The Greasy Strangler) is also a producer, and Lia Buman (Insidious: Chapters 2-3) and Tim Headington (World War Z) are executive producers.

No word on when the movie will be available to the general public, but if you’re at Tribeca this year, you can catch the premiere screening. Let us know what you think on Twitter, in the Official Subreddit, and on Facebook in the Horror Movie Fiend Club!
