There’s something inherently spooky about the great American wilderness of Alaska. With its vast landscape it’s easy to imagine the worst of scenarios, from freezing to death on a mound of snow or disappearing deep into the woods. Other times it’s the thought of a murderous cult gang desperate for your new inheritance. Director David Hackl (Saw V) and writer Nika Agiashvili (A Green Story) seem to know as much and are using it to their advantage with their new film Daughter of the Wolf.
ScreenDaily has given us the first look at the thriller, starring powerhouse Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws), former MMA fighter Gina Carano (Deadpool), and Brendan Fehr (Roswell). With Dreyfuss looking ominous as hell and Carrano looking just as cold, we might be in for a good time. Unfortunately we won’t know until the film’s release date of May 10th, 2019.
The film will focus in Carrano playing Clair, a military specialist returning from a tour in the Middle East to a double whammy. Her father has died and her son is, well, a terrible teenager. With the passing of her father comes a hefty inheritance and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Things go from bad to worse when her son ends up being kidnapped for ransom by a mysterious gang and their leader only known as “The Father.” Clair manages to turn the tables, kidnapping a kidnapper and venturing off into the Alaskan wilderness to save her son from an icy fate. Even with the help of her hostage survival isn’t guaranteed as a she fights against a brutal winter storm.
The thriller will be produced by a trio of Minds Eye Entertainment, VMI Worldwide and QME Entertainment. This is one of a few new films being released by QME Entertainment, including a new Nicholas Cage thriller. No word for a trailer release, so until then we’ll just stare back into the poster showcasing Dreyfuss’ icy stare.
