Horror has been hot on TV as of late. The Haunting of Hill House, Castle Rock, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are just a few 2018’s genre shows that have caught on with both fans and critics. Entertainment Weekly has just released the first official image from AMC’s upcoming adaptation of Joe Hill’s NOS4A2, and we have it here for you now. The creepy still features an unrecognizable Zachary Quinto (Star Trek (2009) and TV’s American Horror Story (2011 – 2013) as the mini series’ antagonist, Charles Manx.
NOS4A2 is based on the bestselling 2013 novel by Joe Hill, who just so happens to be the son of horror master Stephen King. The story centers around Victoria McQueen (Ashley Cummings) who has a special ability to find missing objects. In her journeys, Victoria comes across Charles Manx, an evil entity who snatches children and takes them away to a fantasy place known as “Christmasland”. Victoria is able to escape Manx, but her trouble with the soul sucking monster has just begun.
In regards to the Manx character and the kids that he feeds off of, Quinto told EW, “In the journey they become these ghoulish creatures, and Charlie Manx is fed with vitality and youth.”
NOS4A2 is the second book written by Joe Hill to be adapted for the screen. Previously, Alexander Aja, the director behind The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Piranha 3D (2010), helmed a feature film version of Hill’s 2010 novel, Horns. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple, and it had a limited theatrical release in October of 2013.
The NOS4A2 mini series is scheduled to premier on AMC in summer 2019. Jami O’Brien is serving as showrunner. Have you read NOS4A2? Are you looking forward to the mini series? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter, Reddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
