Great news, Ghostface fans! Spyglass Media, the entertainment group who has the legal rights to some great horror franchises, is officially in the process of developing a new Scream movie. The story broke just last night on Bloody Disgusting, and if you’re anything like us, it’s some of the most exciting horror news to pop up in a while.

Of course, Scream fans have had their fill of Ghostface goodness even after the most recent Scream film (2011’s Scream 4), in the form of three seasons of a television Scream series. However, a return to the big screen is an exciting move for the franchise, since it is horror movies that the films riff off of. Still, this cinematic revival will definitely be different than the original films, especially since co-creator and director Wes Craven died in 2015. Plus, the film has not (as of yet) tapped Scream co-creator and writer Kevin Williamson to pen the script, though that is certainly subject to change. As always, you can keep an eye on this website for updates on the upcoming Scream film. We’ll be sure to have them once they come out.

In the meantime, we want to hear your thoughts about a new Scream movie. What are your hopes for Ghostface‘s big return to theaters? How will the film serve as a commentary on modern horror? Do today’s horror movies have as many spoofable tropes as the ones Scream commented on in the 90s?
