Laurie Strode is returning for at least one more go. Last year’s sequel/reboot of Halloween made some serious cash at the box office on a pretty modest budget, so it’s no surprise that a sequel is in the works. Collider has learned that Blumhouse is gearing up to start filming Halloween 2 soon, with a release expected in October of 2020.
Even more important than the fact that Halloween 2 is in the works is who all will be returning to work on the sequel. Collider has good news on that front as well – their sources indicate that pretty much everyone who was involved in making the last film a success is returning. Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichek are all expected to reprise their roles as the three generations of Strode women, and many of the behind-the-camera talent is expected to return for the sequel as well.
Director David Gordon Green is expected to direct and write the sequel, just as he did for the previous film. Many of the previous film’s producers, including Malek Akkad and Danny McBride, are expected to return and help bring Halloween 2 to life.
Halloween was a huge hit after its debut at the 2018 Toronto International Film Fest, scoring big with critics and audiences alike. We quite liked it, even if it didn’t seem like it offered up much new material for the franchise. Since the first film was so successful, it would be nice to see the filmmakers take a few more chances and push the envelope a bit more with Halloween 2. Filming for Halloween 2 is supposed to get started after Labor Day, and sources indicate that producers are eyeing October 16th, 2020 for the film’s release.
