That’s right Michael Myers fanatics! John Carpenter’s Halloween is celebrating it’s 40th birthday this year. Halloween Daily News is reporting that a birthday bash has been confirmed for October in Pasadena, California. HDN has stated that previous anniversary organizer Sean Clark has confirmed another spectacular birthday bash for the beloved classic.

2018 is a huge year for the Halloween franchise and this year’s anniversary event is really special. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later are also celebrating their 30th and 20th anniversaries, respectively. And of course the party will be sure to hype the new Halloween sequel, slated to release October 19, 2018, which we are all still excited about. While this franchise has had its ups and downs, the 1978 film remains a true classic. The film has influenced the horror genre for 40 years and now it’s time to celebrate!

Past anniversary events of the franchise have included tours of the filming locations, celebrity appearances, and panels. In 2013, Halloween‘s 35 Years of Terror convention boasted guests from each of the films in the franchise. Cast members in attendance included Nick Castle (The Shape), P.J. Soles (Lynda), and Nancy Kyes (Annie) from the original 1978 film. So if this year’s list if anything like the last, we are all in for a real treat.

Also coming in time for this year’s anniversary is For the Love of the Boogeyman: 40 Years of Halloween, the Documentary from Bloody Flicks. The group’s website gives the following synopsis of what viewers should expect to see:

“This documentary is by fans and for the fans, chronicling why John Carpenter’s classic has stood the test of time. Bringing together some of the brightest voices from independent horror we will explore what makes the film so special. From the music, the mask to Michael Myers, everyone has their own take on Halloween, and why it is the blueprint for slasher horror and in our humble opinion, has never been bettered.”

Stayed tuned for more updates on Halloween‘s 40th birthday bash! And of course, keep your eyes and ears open for updates on the newest addition to the franchise!
