Fans of Michael Myers and all things Haddonfield can officially flip their excitement switch. Today marks the first day of principle photography for David Gordon Green’s Halloween sequel!
According to the Island Packet, filming was set to begin this week on the highly anticipated sequel. According to the article, a scene involving a large number of high school students will be the first to be shot today. This timetable, as well as some exciting casting news, has since been confirmed by Bloody Disgusting. Blumhouse, who is producing the film alongside Platinum Dunes and Miramax, also posted this on their official Twitter account:

The film has added some great young talent to the cast, rounding out the group of high school friends surrounding Andi Matichak’s Allyson. Virginia “Ginny” Gardner (Project Almanac), Miles Robbins (My Friend Dahmer), Dylan Arnold (Mudbound) and Drew Scheid (Stranger Things) have joined the film as, probably, the knife-fodder for Nick Castle’s Michael Myers.
Matichak’s Allyson is the daughter of Karen, played by Judy Greer and the granddaughter of Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode. This sequel is essentially ignoring all sequels in the franchise after the first film; starting over again so that we never have to see Chubby-Michael-Myers again. According to the official synopsis:
Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Fans were starting to panic about the project due to its filming being delayed a few months. Everything seems to be back on track after the delay, after all. The release date for the film is still October 19th, 2018, making it the perfect film for the spooky season (and potentially setting it up as the highest-grossing horror film of all time). Keep an eye right here on Nightmare on Film Street as we will be updating you with any new information as it becomes available.
