As we near the 50th anniversary since the tragedy of Sharon Tate at the hands of the “Manson Family”, several film projects have sprouted surrounding the event. Quentin Tarantino’s Sony produced Manson film is currently in pre-production and Mary Harron (American Psycho) will helm a Manson project of her own titled Charlie Says. Recently, Hilary Duff has been tied to a Manson related film titled, The Haunting of Sharon Tate. Skyline Entertainment’s production of the project will focus on the last days of Sharon Tate which will be tagged as a psychological horror film. According to the film’s IMDb page, the films synopsis is as follows:
The last days of 26-year-old Hollywood actress Sharon Tate as she dreams about ghosts haunting her house and foresees her own death at the hands of a satanic cult.
Directed by Daniel Ferrands (Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy), the film will co-star Jonathan Bennett (Deadly Retreat) who is signed to play Jay Sebring; a close friend of Tate’s as well as “Manson Family” murder victim. Hilary Duff recently sought Instagram as a means to promote the film by posting a selfie with the following caption:
The film’s title is a reference to an interview between Tate and columnist Dick Kleiner which he published in the 1960’s. According to Kleiner, Tate refers to a dream in which she witnesses her death at the hands of occultists. Throughout her dream, she also reveals ghosts were haunting her home.
The Haunting of Sharon Tate will be Hilary Duff’s return to film since the 2016 comedy, Flock of Dudes. She is also currently starring in a television comedy-drama series titled Younger.
