After making a splash at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and being acquired by Screen Media Films, Patrick Brice’s Corporate Animals has received an official August release date. The cannibal comedy follows an ensemble cast of corporate employees on a work retreat that quickly goes sideways.
Lucy (Demi Moore) is the egotistical megalomaniac CEO of Incredible Edibles, America’s premier provider of edible cutlery. In her infinite wisdom, Lucy leads her staff including her long-suffering assistants, Freddie (Karan Soni) and Jess (Jessica Williams), on a corporate team-building caving weekend to New Mexico. When disaster strikes, not even their useless guide, Brandon (Ed Helms), can save them. Trapped underground by a cave-in, this mismatched and disgruntled group must pull together in order to survive.
Brice is known for directing the fantastic one-two punch of found footage horror movies Creep and Creep 2, with him starring as well in the former. Between those two films and The Overnight, Brice is no stranger to mashing comedy and horror into a delicious treat. Corporate Animals was praised for its zany, dark humor and a surprising performance by Demi Moore.
Moore leads an all-star cast including Jessica Williams (2 Dope Queens), Karan Soni (Deadpool 1 & 2), Ed Helms (Hangover Franchise), and even a Britney Spears cameo. While Brice is no stranger to the genre, for most the cast this is their first times dipping their toes in the horror waters. There’s no trailer yet, but the idea of Demi Moore playing an egotistical CEO who resorts to her primal instincts and flex her comedy chops is ridiculously intriguing.
Corporate Animals is set to be released August 9th, 2019. Written by Sam Bain and directed by Patrick Brice, this film marks Brice’s 4th directorial feature and looks to be his most high profile. Excited for Corporate Animals? Let us know on Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit!
