If you’ve ever played “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board,” you know the game comes with some creepiness. Even if you’re a natural skeptic, the ritualistic feel of the game is goosebump-inducing. Hulu seems to know this, because they’re coming out with a series all about it. Light as a Feather is headed to Hulu’s ever-growing horror menu soon, and the series seems promising.

According to Deadline, the series follows five teenagers who encounter dark forces when they play the game. Strange things begin to happen and pretty soon, the friends start dying off. The plot of the series comes from the novel Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board by horror author Zoe Aarsen.

What’s especially interesting about Aarsen’s story is the platform on which it was published. The novel came to us through the social writing network Wattpad, a community for writers to publish original content online. Anyone can join, and as of January 2018, there are over 65 million visitors per month. It’s kind of like a YouTube for fiction, and it’s reaching a lot of people. Inspiring a series is just the latest exciting step in Wattpad’s history.

Aarsen herself is very excited for the series, quoted in the Deadline article as saying:

“When I first joined Wattpad, I set out to create something unique, exploring characters and a world where female empowerment, friendship, and supernatural forces come together.” … “Wattpad is a place where people come together and connect over stories, discussing every twist and cliffhanger. So it was the perfect platform for my story. Teen horror is my passion, so I can’t wait to be able to share Light as a Feather with other horror aficionados on Hulu.”

Well Zoe, teen horror is a passion around here too. And with Hulu’s recent commitment to quality horror, we bet the series will be pretty enjoyable. Hulu hasn’t set a release date for Light as a Feather, but you bet we’ll let you know as soon as they do.
