The much-loved horror magazine Fangoria has finally released a glimpse of the Vol. 2 Issue #5 cover of their quarterly journal. Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) and Joe Hill’s (NOS482) new Creepshow series gets top billing in this creepy collection of horror journalism.
Most are already in the know, however, a brief synopsis of the magazine just in case; Fangoria was first published in 1979 and was a huge part of the horror community world in the 80’s and 90’s. After some difficulties in the late aughts, Cinestate took over and the reanimated scary mag was back from the dead October 2018. Just a bit more Fangoria trivia here: Vol. 1 Issue #5 was released in April 1980 and did not focus solely on horror at the time. The creators had initially intended it as an extension of their sci-fi/fantasy-centric Starlog. It was not until Vol. 1 Issue #7 that the darkness fully took over.
The soon to be released Issue #5 showcases a jam-packed cover with fantastic headlines that horror fans are dying to dig in to. Front and center we have Greg Nicotero and Joe Hill long-awaited Creepshow. Their vision has the cult-classic 1980’s film transformed into a series, available on Shudder September 26, 2019. The headline “Creepshow: Resurrecting the Legend” is superimposed over a pearl-wearing zombie who has clearly seen better days. One might almost wonder if this is the current incarnation of Bedelia, the put-upon daughter in the original film’s opening tale. We will have to tune in to Shudder this September to find out!
Additional articles featured on the new cover include an interview with Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Bill Hader (Barry) on the upcoming It Chapter 2, a Robert Eggers (The Witch) and Ari Aster (Midsomer) piece on Egger’s forthcoming The Lighthouse, a take on Rebecca Romjin (X-Men) in the new horror comedy Satanic Panic, and finally a Rob Zombie interview on his eagerly awaited Devil’s Rejects follow up 3 From Hell.
All this and more await u, dear readers when Fangoria Vol. 2 Issue #5 is released this October. Which article will you be reading first when the new issue arrives?
