Venturing back into The Further, the new title for the next installment in the Insidious series has been revealed along with the brand spanking new trailer and a release date. Announced via British trailer rating site BBFC, the title for the next film has been dubbed Insidious: The Last Key. Watch the trailer, above.
Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell, and Angus Sampson will reprise their roles from previous films as parapsychologist Elise Rainer and the dynamic duo of Steven “Specs” and Tucker. The film is set to be directed by Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan) and written by Leigh Whannell. This will be the first in the series to not carry the subtitle ‘Chapter’ in the title.
The film is set years before the events from the previous films and follows Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), in her youth in New Mexico, that begins to be haunted by malevolent and demonic spirits in their own house.
Originally the film was slated for next month on October 20, 2017 but was soon pushed back for new Blumhouse Productions film Happy Death Day. Insidious: The Last Key will be haunting theaters January 5, 2018.
