The 2017 adaptation of Stephen King’s IT surprised audiences, critics, and probably producers as well: it brought in over $700 million worldwide on just a $35 million budget. It should come as no surprise that a sequel, IT: Chapter 2, is on the way, scheduled to release September 6th, 2019. We now have our first leaked photo of the first film’s “Losers’ Club” all grown up, and you can check it out right here.
The first film saw the Losers’ Club as children, confronting their fears made manifest by Pennywise the Dancing Clown (Bill Skarsgard). In IT: Chapter 2, each member of the gang has grown up and gone their separate ways, but they are brought back to Derry in order to take down the reawakened evil. The photo shows most of our star-studded grown up crew in action, including:
- James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough
- Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh
- Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom
- Bill Hader as Richie Tozier
- James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak
- Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon
Not pictured here (understandably, if you know the original Stephen King story) is Stanley Uris. He will be played by Andy Bean in IT: Chapter 2. All of the child actors from the first film will be returning to their roles for some scenes as well. Andy Muschetti is returning to the director’s chair, and the screenplay is written, once again, by Gary Dauberman.
IT: Chapter 2 looks like a surefire hit, with all the major players from the first film returning and an all-star group of actors being added to take on some meaty roles. Look for it in theaters September 6, 2019, and stay tuned for more information on the film as it becomes available.
