The Devil. He’s long been a source of fascination and horror, and even though the Church of Satan has been doing interesting things lately, it’s hard for the Devil to shake the reputation of being a bad guy. This is unlikely to help, a new horror film called I Trapped the Devil. Still, it might provide an answer to the most important question of our time: What would you do if you have the Devil locked up in your basement at Christmas time?
The feature directorial debut of writer/director Josh Lobo is a Christmas-set tale in time for spring about a man who may be disturbed, or he may actually have Satan – or Lucifer, or Beelzebub, or Mephistopheles, or whatever you want to call him – locked up in his basement. That will be for his relatives, and the audience, to determine. The film is being released through IFC Midnight, which is also behind the recently released films Midnighters and Pywacket.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Christmas is supposed to be a time for peace and joyful family reunions. But when Matt (AJ Bowen) and his wife Karen (Susan Burke) show up unannounced at the home of his estranged brother Steve (Scott Poythress) to celebrate the holidays, they are instead greeted with a horrifying surprise: trapped in the basement is a man. But not just any man. Steve believes that his hostage is none other than the devil himself. As shock and skepticism turn to fear and paranoia, Matt and Karen find themselves facing a terrifying quandary: is Steve dangerously unhinged? Or could the mysterious stranger really be evil incarnate? Either way, the stage is set for a true Christmas from hell.
I Trapped the Devil will be available to download on VOD on April 26th. Are you excited to trap the Devil? Tell us about it on Twitter, on the official NOFS Reddit, or The Horror Movie Fiend Club on Facebook!
