Think you’ve got what it takes to be the next big horror director? New Line Cinema and director James Wan have just the thing for you: a new competition show called Night Vision that offers a New Line development deal for the eventual winner. Wan, who cut his teeth in horror with films like Saw and Dead Silence, is now a principle player in creating the massively successful cinematic universe surrounding The ConjuringHe has also moved outside of the horror genre, directing films like Furious 7 and the upcoming Aquaman.

Wan’s production company, Atomic Monster, is partnering with Magical Elves who are responsible for reality competition shows like Project Runway and Top Chef. They hope that Night Vision can capture the same drama that those other, award-winning competition shows have done for their respective industries. Speaking about Night Vision, Wan told The Hollywood Reporter, “I can’t wait to discover the next, new talent in horror. This competition is an exciting opportunity for up-and-coming horror directors to get noticed by the industry and audiences alike.”

Night Vision will pit thirteen filmmakers across as many episodes in an elimination-style competition to shoot the scariest short films they can. Judging from the track record of the other shows these production companies have worked on, expect plenty of twists and eliminations from week to week to see how the filmmakers respond under pressure. The winner of the competition will receive a development deal with New Line Cinema to life. The details of what that deal entails has not yet been announced.
