Jessica Chastain, with a few simple words, has just managed put a smile on the faces of horror fans all over the world.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, the two-time Academy Award Nominated actress spoke about her relationship with IT director Andy Muschietti and his sister-slash-producing-partner Barbara. After being asked whether or not she would be interested in becoming the adult version of Beverly Marsh, Chaistain stated that she loves “Andy and Barbara. I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know… And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends…”.
This may seem like a an elusive answer, but she was egged on a bit by her interview-partner Idris Elba. “Listen, of course, I want to work,” she expanded, “they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen”.

Chastain has been a fan favorite for the role ever since IT was released this September. While big name actors and actresses have generally stayed away from horror films in the past, the massive box-office success of this film and the Award-Season push from Warner Brothers makes it a more attractive vehicle for top talent. She also has a prior working relationship with the director, mentioned above, turning in an electric performance in his feature film debut Mama.
As fans of the book and 1990 miniseries will attest to, the character of Beverly Marsh will experience some dark times as an adult. Jessica Chastain has shown the capability to reach down into the darkness of a character and deliver a truly moving performance. She has demonstrated some of the finest acting that we have seen this decade, regardless of genre. There is no one else in Hollywood that trust with this pivotal role more than Chastain, and I truly hope that the powers that be can make the magic happen.
