Julian Dennison was the breakout star of Deadpool 2. The young New Zealand actor cursed, screamed, and firefisted (Google it, I dare you) his way into America’s hearts when the superhero spoof opened last month. Now, Julian is taking on another blockbuster franchise. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dennison is joining Adam Wingard’s Godzilla Vs. Kong. He is the latest actor to join the film, which will see King Kong and Godzilla square off. It will be the fourth film in the Legendary Pictures conjoined universe series, or ‘Monsterverse.’
Dennison joins an already impressive cast. Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobbie Brown will also appear in the film, as well as Bloodlines‘ Kyle Chandler and Bates Motel‘s Vera Farmiga. Don’t get too excited though. King Kong and Godzilla still have a while to go before they meet. According to the article, fans will first get to see a sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, entitled Godzilla: King of Monsters. This film will come out May 31st, 2019. Kong won’t enter the fray until Kong Vs. Godzilla, which hits theaters May 22nd, 2020. It’s a bit of a wait, for sure, but if you like watching giant monsters kick each others’ asses like I do, then the wait will be worth it.
What do you think of the Dennison casting news? How do you think the Kong Vs. Godzilla match up will go down? Will they start fighting but then realize that their mothers share a name, thus breaking the animosity between them and begetting a beautiful friendship? Of course they won’t! That would make for a terrible movie!
