While the first trailer for Jim Jarmusch’s horror-comedy The Dead Don’t Die showed us a huge cast of familiar faces dealing with a zombie outbreak in their small town (even going so far as to take on the tagline “The Greatest Zombie Cast Ever Disassembled”), this latest trailer tightens its focus on Ronnie Peterson (Adam Driver) and Cliff Robertson (Bill Murray), two cops tasked with dealing with the zombie hordes that have appeared in the peaceful town of Centerville. This trailer is cut in a way that gives off major buddy-cop vibes in the best way possible.
Check out the new restricted trailer below.
Here’s the official movie description:
In the sleepy small town of Centerville, something is not quite right. The moon hangs large and low in the sky, the hours of daylight are becoming unpredictable, and animals are beginning to exhibit unusual behaviors. No one quite knows why. News reports are scary and scientists are concerned. But no one foresees the strangest and most dangerous repercussion that will soon start plaguing Centerville: The Dead Don’t Die— they rise from their graves and savagely attack and feast on the living, and the citizens of the town must battle for their survival.
Focus Features is touting The Dead Don’t Die as a “raucous, rueful and satirical glimpse at American habits and desires at the end of the world”. Based on this, the huge ensemble cast, and the distinct lack of named protagonist(s) in the official description, it’s hard to say which characters will be at the center of Centerville’s story. Driver’s Ronnie seems like an obvious choice, since he seems like the canniest when it comes to recognizing and dispatching the zombies. Personally, I’m hoping that more trailers will be released over the next few weeks highlighting different characters and their reactions to the strange happenings upending their hometown.
The Dead Don’t Die hits theatres on June 14th.
