The upcoming CBS All Access adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand has added a new name to the ranks of its cast – Marilyn Manson.
In a new interview with Revolver, Manson discussed his upcoming album as well as some other projects in the works. Manson stated “Shooter [Jennings] and I also did a cover of “The End” by the Doors, for a new miniseries of The Stand by Stephen King, which I’m also going to be acting in.” Cue the fangirling.
Manson has been making appearances in film and television since 1997 when he appeared in David Lynch’s Lost Highway. Since then, Manson has had roles on FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Fox’s Salem, and as the hitman Pope in Let Me Make You a Martyr (2016). Manson also had guest roles of Californication, playing himself, and is set to have an upcoming appearance on The New Pope. All in all, Manson has added most and more acting gigs to his resume in recent years, and frankly, I’m thrilled to see this one be added to the list.
As of right now, there are no details on who Manson will be playing in the 10-part mini-series but there is a wide spectrum of characters to choose from. The Stand centers on two groups that gain prominence after a deadly virus wreaks havoc on the world. Mother Abigail is a 108-year-old woman who serves as a spiritual leader in her new society, the Free Zone. On the other end of the spectrum, we have Randall Flagg. Flagg possesses supernatural abilities and rules his group with a militaristic iron fist out of Las Vegas. It will be interesting to see which side the Antichrist Superstar will fall on.
With the Twins of Evil tour with Rob Zombie, a new album on the horizon, and now another acting role, Marilyn Manson is on fire. So with his name added to the list of actors joining The Stand – who else is excited?
