You haven’t lived until you’ve died.

A new trailer for the Flatliners remake/sequel has been released, and it highlights how much fun dying is – until it goes horribly wrong. This new trailer takes a different approach than the first one, by using the sounds of the characters taking their last breaths. As the trailer goes on, the breaths become increasingly loud and faster, causing the tension to rise as you watch the trailer unfold.

The film stars Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Ellen Page (Inception), and Diego Luna (Rogue One), and is being marketed as a remake of the original 1990 film. The original film was directed by Joel Schumacher, and starred Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, and Julia Roberts.

However, Kiefer Sutherland has recently confirmed that it is a sequel, and he will be back to play his character from the original movie. This makes the most sense for the series, as new audiences can enjoy the film as a standalone, and fans of the original get a deeper layer to the movie.

The official synopsis reads:

Five medical students, obsessed by what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife.

Flatliners arrives in theaters on September 29th, 2017, and you can check out the new trailer above!
