A24’s latest horror comedy is taking a Slice out of life. Quite literally.

Slice follows two pizza delivery drivers, played by Chance the Rapper and Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), who are trying to find out why their coworkers are being killed left and right. As they try to find the killer, they discover that the pizza joint, Perfect Pizza, is far from perfect. In fact, the restaurant is built over a gateway to hell. That means all sorts of paranormal creatures, from ghosts to werewolves, are spilling into our world. Who knew ordering pizza could involve werewolves and a gateway to hell?

This is Slice director, Austin Vesely’s, feature film debut. It’s also Chance the Rapper’s big screen acting debut. The two have worked together in the past, with Vesely directing several of Chance’s music videos. Now, they are venturing into the world of horror. In an interview with Pigeons and Planes, Vesely said, “people ask me often if [Slice] is really scary. I hope it has its moments but it’s more of a comedy for me. Tonally, I was really inspired by Twin Peaks, if that says anything.” The trailer definitely echoes that tone, full of blood, ghosts, and pretty cool jackets.

Slice’s outlandish premise is crazy enough to be entertaining and hilarious. And with the backing of A24, who is behind such horror successes like The Witch and Hereditary, it’s almost certain to be a frighteningly good time.

Slice will also star Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Hannibal Buress (The Eric Andre Show), and Paul Scheer (VEEP).

Slice doesn’t have a release date yet, but make sure to keep an eye on the site for updates. So what’s scarier: Slice or ordering pineapple on a pizza? Let us know in the comments below, on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
