“This house has many hearts.” And starting in September, you can experience each of them! Universal Orlando Resort has announced Poltergeist as the latest haunted house in its Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) line up. Restless spirits will be crossing over to terrorize horror fans straight from the 80’s. According to Charles Gray, writer and show director for HHN, fans can count on walking through the most iconic scenes from the film.
We will be taking you, the guest, through all the fan favorite moments, and then guiding you into the place we always wanted to go… that bright and terrifying light. As Tangina would say, ‘Come into the light. All are welcome.’
1980’s Horror enthusiasts have an awful lot to look forward to this year. Poltergeist is just one of the films from the 80s to get the HHN treatment. This year’s Scare Zones contain Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Chucky from Child’s Play. Additionally, Stranger Things and Trick ‘r Treat have been adapted into haunted houses as well. (There are also rumors that a certain autumnal serial killer could be making an appearance at HHN 28 according to ads spotted in Orlando area hotels).
Having grown up watching Carol Anne among the spooks, I’m thrilled over the addition of Poltergeist. I’m willing to bet that a certain creepy clown will have crept out from under a Chewbacca jacket for the occasion. Maybe we’ll be taunted by a demonic tree? Or perhaps we’ll revel in the terror of gigantic skulls and skeletal monsters. There is so much potential for a killer Poltergeist house from the minds of Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper.
