Indie horror game Project Nightmares is on its way to Steam Early Access, and there’s a new gameplay trailer to give you a taste of the scares in store. Project Nightmares is a single player survival horror game from Argentinian developers NC. The developer duo announced the game on the soon-to-be retired Steam Greenlight last year.
The gameplay trailer features “the case of Henrietta Kedward.” It gives a sense of the dark corners, claustrophobic hallways, tense mysteries, and jump scares that the game will offer. The player is transported to a shadowy home from long ago. The evil object in question is a malevolent toy with evil spirits attached to it. The player must investigate books, drawers, and objects by candlelight, searching for clues and avoiding supernatural threats.
Here’s the official synopsis:
A group of scientists with knowledge of the paranormal develop a machine that allows them to induce sleep on a patient with psychic abilities, and also connect them to a malignant object. Project Nightmares is in charge of investigating these objects, discovering their history, and attempting to eradicate their evil.
Your goal is to find clues and solve each case without dying in the process. Within each level you will find notes and hidden places. Move fast, but also be stealthy. The evil object will try to defend itself with paranormal entities, so be careful because the body cannot survive without the mind. If you die in the nightmare, you die in reality.
The game promises that the player will have a different experience and outcome every time they play. That way they never know when the scares are coming, or where the story will take them. Project Nightmares will have VR support. To keep up with the upcoming game, check out the Project Nightmares Facebook page.
