Just ahead The First Purge, Blumhouse and company drop the first trailer for The Purge Series.

The Purge Series finds its home between The First Purge and the other three films in the franchise. Gabriel Chavarria (War for the Planet of the Apes) and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw) will be appearing throughout, with Colin Woodell (Unfriended: Dark Web), Fiona Douriff (Cult of Chucky), and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw, What Keeps You Alive) rounding out the cast. By stretching the concept into a series the producers hope to more explore the lives affected by the annual Purge. How does a night with so much chaos and destruction shape a person? How do you go on living as though every horrible things that happened to you was perfectly fine, and some psycho’s constitutional right?

The official synopsis of The Purge TV series:

Hot at the Shop:

Based on the hit movie franchise from Blumhouse Productions, THE PURGE revolves around a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.

The Purge films have been a brutal series so far and The Purge Series definitely looks like it’s continuing the trend. The true terror behind the concept is that as extreme as it may seem, it doesn’t feel that far-fetched anymore. Sure we’re not ready to add this as a new holiday to our list here in the real world, but it does play into the political horror show that is highlighted in today’s media. The world feels more divided than it’s ever been before. Tensions are rising. We are alway minutes away from more violence, and there seems to be no signs of slowing.

Lock your doors and bar the windows. It’s going to be a long night. The Purge Series debuts on the USA Network September 4th. Are you ready to PurgeLet us know in the comments below, on TwitterInstagramReddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
