It was music to our ears when we heard that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost would be reuniting for the horror-comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez. The film was the first released under the banner of Stolen Pictures, a production company that Pegg and Frost formed together. Strangely, Slaughterhouse Rulez released in 2018 (on Halloween night, of course), but there was no US release date announced. That has finally changed, and the film will be hitting the other side of the pond this coming May.

Slaughterhouse Rulez will receive a limited theatrical release and will be available for digital purchase on May 17, 2019 with a DVD release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to follow, June 18.

Official Synopsis:

Welcome to Slaughterhouse, an elite boarding school where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness… and they’re about to meet their match.  … But this ancient and ordered world is about to be shaken to its foundations – literally. When a controversial frack site on prize school woodland causes seismic tremors, a mysterious sinkhole and an unspeakable horror is unleashed. Soon a new pecking order will be established as pupils, teachers and the school matron become locked in a bloody battle for survival.

In addition to Pegg and Frost, Slaughterhouse Rulez stars Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game, Hugo), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Hermione Corfield (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation), Michael Sheen (Good Omens, Masters of Sex), and Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, The Wolf of Wall Street).

The film looks to be going for the same blend of horror and irreverent British comedy that Shaun of the Dead hit so well. It has mixed reviews on both IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, however, so it does not seem like it nails it quite as well. You can see for yourself when the film heads over the Atlantic on May 17.
