Fans of the inaugural season of The Exorcist TV show will be excited this afternoon. Those who missed out on the premiere of The Exorcist: The Next Chapter are in luck. The studio has released the entire first episode to stream.
This season was an uphill battle for fans. After the completion of the first season of The Exorcist, the future of the show was left up in the air. Fans, hungry for more, rallied behind the show, creating petitions and voicing their opinions across social media. And the studio listened.
In the first season, audiences saw Angela Rance (Geena Davis) suspicions that something is amiss in her home. Plagued by increasingly frightening nightmares, she isn’t the only one in her family suffering: her husband Henry is slowly losing his mind, while their older daughter spends all of her time locked in her room, and the younger one believes she hears strange noises coming from inside the walls. Desperate, she turns to Father Tomas Ortega — the progressive leader of their suburban Chicago parish — setting him on a collision course with old school Vatican soldier Father Marcus Brennan, as all of their fates become entangled in a battle against an ancient force of evil.
The Exorcist: The Next Chapter will be a big departure from the first season. Set against the haunting backdrop of Pacific Northwest, we follow Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and Father Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) as they move on to another possession case. This time, They find a former child psychologist named Andrew Kim (John Cho) who runs a group home for at-risk foster children on an island off the coast of Seattle. One of the children in his care has come down with a case of the demons.
In a panel at Comic-Con, The Exorcist team revealed;
Going into this season, the reason we switched it up from an upper-class urban family was to give it a nature look; the blues and greens make it feel more cinematic. It opens the sandbox to play in other types. A lot of Japanese horror is nature-based, and that can influence where we’re going this season.
The first episode of The Exorcist: The Next Chapter premiered last Friday, September 29th on Fox. You can stream the episode right here.
