The new poster for the Suspiria remake has been revealed by Amazon. That said, the concept doesn’t give a lot away; it’s simply a spray-painted “S” on a concrete wall. However, enough information has been leaked to get audiences excited about the upcoming release. Footage of the remake was exclusively screened at CinemaCon this past week.

The scene in question was of a creepy dance number that ended with a young woman being ripped apart in a glorious eruption of broken bones, blood, spit and urine. Many attendees reportedly looked away in horror, and Amy Kaufman of the LA Times tweeted that she was “traumatized” after witnessing the scene.

The original Suspiria was released in 1977. The story follows Suzy Bannion, an American ballet student who joins a prestigious dance academy in Germany, where she gets caught in the middle of a series of mysterious murders. Directed by Dario Argento, Suspiria is categorized in the giallo genre, an Italian film style known for its colorful, yet dark atmospheric horror, with elements of supernatural suspense. Recently, film fanatics have been swept up in Suspiria fever, after a 4K restoration of the original has been circulating film festivals in celebration of its 40th anniversary. A remake could not have come at a better time.

The film will feature Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) in the lead role, along with Chloë Grace Moretz, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth and Jessica Harper, who played the lead in the original. Thom Yorke of Radiohead will also be composing the score. Luckily the film won’t be completely Americanised, as Italian director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name) has been recruited.

The adaptation of Suspiria will be released in theaters by Amazon Studios in Fall of 2018. Are you excited for the remake? Let us know what you think of the new poster on TwitterInstagramReddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
