The wattage of Quentin Tarantino’s director star power is on high with the upcoming release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, his first return to LA Noir since Jackie Brown (1997). Like all of his films, Tarantino has assembled a heavy-hitting cast for his latest including Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, and Kurt Russell among others. New released photos from Vanity Fair highlight the look and feel of what promises to be an epic return to theatres for the auteur.

Ever since Pulp Fiction blew away the 1994 Cannes Film Festival new Quentin Tarantino movies are always heavily anticipated. The film consequently became the bible for 90s indie American filmmaking and as Pulp Fiction is about to celebrate its 25 year anniversary, Tarantino still remains a provocative filmmaker and top draw name. In a theatrical world composed of all things Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Tarantino is a brand all his own.

As typical with Tarantino, not much is known about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, set for release on July 26. As the official synopsis states, “A faded TV actor and his stunt double embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves during the Helter Skelter reign of terror in 1969 Los Angeles”.

The hippy vibe of 1969 is alive and well, as highlighted by these new photos. Brad Pitt returns to the Tarantino fold and looks uber cool as a Hollywood stuntman working and living in LA at the time of the Manson Family Murders. Equally, in his first film since winning best actor for The Revenant (2015), Leonardo DiCaprio returns to the Tarantino family after his scene stealing turn as super vile slave owner Clavin Candie in the the box office sensation Django Unchained (2012). With Margot Robbie playing Sharon Tate, the first photo reveal promises another unique Tarantino exploration of life, violence and the movies itself.

With Tarantino closing off his western trilogy with Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, one can always accept something new from the two-time Oscar winning filmmaker. Tarantino knows how to tell a story and expectations are super high for this latest release.  Personally, I can’t wait. Are you excited for Once Upon A Time in Hollywood?
