You’ve been invited to a Séance..
Horror VR has been landing fast and furious as the technology adapts and becomes more widespread. Among the major players, even Youtube and Facebook have gotten in on the action. I don’t know how many times I’ve scrolled through my Facebook feed and stumbled across those creepy clowns gutting that poor man in 360 degrees of HD. And- Even I, a wuss, got in on the VR action a few months back with the It: Float VR.
Well, we’ve another doozy for you.
Jaunt VR has picked up their latest terror, Eye For An Eye: A Séance in Virtual Reality. The 360 degree short is directed by Elia Petridis of Fever Content. Using strategies such as positional audio, green screen technology, real actors, and much more, ‘Eye for an Eye’ is one of the first 360 VR experiences to explore live-action VFX, stands out using classic techniques to seamlessly integrate practical effects with digital imagery.
Watch the short, below. Keep in mind – this does work best with VR glasses. Even google cardboard will do. If you don’t have either, you can watch using the the arrow keys to pan and rotate through the 360 degree short.
In the veins of classic horror storytellers like Lucio Fulci and John Carpenter, Writer/Director Elia Petridis tells the story of a group of friends who attend a seance to try and find a missing friend. Unbeknownst to them, however, their psychic medium is in contact with the vengeful, eyeless soul of a child named Marcus, who was brutally murdered. He can only pass to the next realm by finding, and forcefully taking, an appropriate set of eyes.
There’s more horror VR where that came from. Check out the other spooky shorts from Jaunt.
