October might be months away, but it’s officially time to start getting hyped for the return of horror’s first family to the big screen. The Addams Family is back and more animated than ever…as in literal animation, in their debut poster for the upcoming film. It’s been over 25 years since the Addams family had a movie in theaters with Addams Family Values.
With a fresh start and a new medium, it’s finally time to reintroduce the titular family with a star-studded cast providing their voices. Leading the cast is Oscar Isaac (Annihilation) as head of the house Gomez Addams. Filling out the family we have Charlize Theron (Prometheus), Chloë Grace Moretz (Greta), and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) playing Morticia, Wednesday, and Pugsley respectively. The best part of the cast, aside from being insanely talented, is that they all have some sort of background in genre entertainment. So they should have no trouble bringing the dark charisma necessary for the iconic family. Other cast members include Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Allison Janney and Elsie Fischer.
The poster doesn’t have much information, but we do get a solid look at the fantastic animation. The awkward body shapes and colorless, beady eyes compliment the general tone of The Addams Family, looking similar to the style present Corpse Bride. We also get to see what each main family member will look like, each with their own distinct facial expressions. My only complaint is a little too much color in their wardrobes, I quite enjoyed the various black and white fashion choices from the 90s Addams Family movies.
And while the poster is great, we only have a few more days to wait for the trailer, coming April 10th. The film is being helmed Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, the duo behind Sausage Party. Interesting pair, I wonder how much dark humor will creep into this feature or if they’re going more family friendly. Either way, I’m excited. What about you?!
The Addams Family stalks it way into theaters October 11, 2019. Let us know if you’re excited for a new Addams Family film at Twitter, in the official NOFS Subreddit, and on Facebook in the Horror Movie Fiend Club.
